Burgers, lemonade, and iced tea...What else do you need for a hot summer day? Continue reading about Mick's Karma Bar in Irvine!

What started off as a juice bar at the bottom of a business building is now Mick's Karma Bar. Known for their burgers, Mick's is a tiny spot with mostly outdoor patio seating for customers. From the outside looking in, it doesn't seem like anything special, just another eatery for people who work in the buildings around. But as you all know, don't judge a book, or restaurant, by its cover. My boyfriend and I decided to give this place a try while we were in the area, but were surprised where we ended up. We parked in a garage structure and had to walk around a building or two to find Mick's. You might have to do some exploring to find the place, especially on a weekend, because there is very little signage as to where it is and there's no one around. [Tip: park in the structure that's meant for El Torito] Once we saw outdoor seating and a few groups of people eating, we knew we had arrived. [Tip: you're getting close if you start seeing colorful art sculptures that double as benches] It was nice that there weren't that many people because we were able to bring our dog, which I don't think would've been possible on a weekday. It wasn't very crowded but the restaurant does very well seeing how it attracts a lot of customers on weekends while being in a very secluded area of offices that are only open during weekdays. The menu, written on chalkboard, is short and simple and the workers are friendly. When you walk in, you totally get the vibe of a juice bar turned burger joint. We ordered quickly and waited quite a while until we could pick up our food at the counter.
I ordered the Karma Burger ($5.75) while my boyfriend chose the Habanero Burger ($6.25), and we shared the Strawberry Basil Lemonade ($3.25) and Mojito Iced Tea ($3.25) as thirst quenchers. The Karma Burger is a sirloin steak handmade patty topped with American Cheese, lettuce, tomato, and Karma Sauce. The Habanero Burger is spicy with escalivada, garlic mayo, lettuce, tomato, and queso fresco. I'd say I ordered the less adventurous burger while my boyfriend got the wild and spicy one! Nevertheless, both burgers were juicy, delicious, and cheap! It seems as if all the burgers start off with the same base but are built with different ingredients and flavors. The fries were nothing to remember, because I actually don't remember them. So I'm guessing they're whatever or soft fries, since I love love love crunchy and firm fries. The drinks were good, but not spectacular, with the iced tea being slightly more enjoyable than the very sweet lemonade. Mick's is definitely out of the way for me, but if I lived in Irvine I'd probably make my way here a few times out of the year.

Overall Review:
Good meal for what we paid for, but not one of those I'd-totally-drive-all-the-way-out-here-for-this restaurants. Must try if you're in the area though!
Happy eating!
